Cal. 58. NSN. Bbl. 12" rnd. with octagon shank. Fixed blade front sight with folding leaf tang mounted rear sight. Bbl. and lockplate are dated "1855". Forward portion of the lockplate is marked "U.S./ SPRINGFIELD". Lock has intact Maynard tape primer mechanism. Brass band fastened walnut stock with spring keeper. Additional brass fittings include the rnd. butt cap, trigger guard, and nose cap. Iron backstrap has provisions for shoulder stock attachment. Button tipped swivel iron ramrod. Stock band has attached swivel. UNATTACHED ACCESORIES: iron carabiner & apparent belt loop. CONDITION: Cleaned gray metal shows general pitting. Refinished stock shows heavy wear with several cracks chips having an added wood repair left of the tang. Functioning mechanics. Dark lightly pitted bore retains intact rifling. (01-27885/DS).
